Let’s Talk About the Fly Lady’s Cleaning Method

Have you heard of her? She runs a successful cleaning consulting business with a large online presence (and using a website that never left its 2000s era; good for her!). There’s tons of great resources there to help you avoid living in what she calls CHAOS: Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome.

Highlighting: Her Personal Before Bed Routine.

She describes this as the most important routine of the day. The idea is you set a time to start it and then do it, starting tonight. This may be after dinner is ready or after the kids are in bed (or both). This is her three step process:

1. Clean/de-clutter before bed: “Living room – pick up and put away things, magazines, dishes, clothes, shoes, etc. Kitchen – clean it up, shine sink…run the dishwasher. Dining room/entrance – clear the hot spots.”

2. Think about tomorrow before going to bed: This is a good one! Some ideas include setting the table for breakfast or even starting breakfast (or at least lay out some ingredients), set whatever items you’ll need by the entry way so you don’t forget them on your way out.

3. Think about yourself before going to bed (and we’ll add, the Lord): Write out your to-do lists or priorities for the next day, read, kneel down and pray to the Lord, stretch, relax, listen to a podcast, go on a walk if you’re able to, have some pillow talk with your husband, etc.

Don’t become overwhelmed! Think about this way: even if you accomplish this “before bed routine” twice a week, 2 days is still better than zero! It’s a GREAT start. Just keep repeating that to yourself “Twice a week is better than 0 a week”.

Short Reads, Big Gains

Continuing the April theme of body safety/protecting our children: Good Pictures, Bad Pictures Jr.

A book for ages 3-6 focusing on understanding and protecting themselves against the visual dangers of the internet. The book’s catch phrase is “Turn, Run & Tell” when exposed to inappropriate content.

Fighting Norovirus Without Pepto: Norovirus (aka, the stomach flu/bug) has been on the rise recently; here are some ways you can fight it naturally! The best part: besides from helping with the symptoms, by adding some of the products below to your regular diet you’re bringing life and health back into your gut. Gut health = Immune system health.

  • Bone broth – If you don’t want to deal with having the stove top on for hours, use a slow cooker instead.

  • Electrolytes – Try coconut water for your little ones and a natural brand like LMTN for you.

  • Chamomile tea & fresh ginger– Chamomile is even safe for babies, and a great alternative to gripe water. Ginger is great for nausea and vomiting relief.

  • Apple sauce & bananas– Contain pectin, which helps to reduce the symptoms of diarrhea and soothes the gastrointestinal tract.

  • Fresh or frozen pineapple – Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain which acts as a digestive aid, is anti-inflammatory

  • Activated charcoal – Charcoal can help to naturally remove toxins and bacteria. More on this on a future newsletter!

  • Probiotics – To restore and maintain healthy gut flora. We recommend doing this naturally with fermented foods like sauerkraut, tempeh or miso (buy refrigerated), yogurt and cheese (check the label for “live/active cultures”), and kambucha (watch for added sugars).

Amazon Influencer Program: Product Video Reviews…we’ve all seen influencers with Amazon store fronts, but did you know about this?

Highlighting: Kathleen Rumfor, a Jesus loving wife of 35 years, mom to 2 grown daughters whom she homeschooled, and grandma. She and her husband support 8 children through World Vision and 4 missionary families. Her Amazon Influencer income (gained through creating and sharing product video reviews on Amazon) is helping them increase this giving while also helping their own family.

Note to Reader - There’s no easy way to make money on the internet. Everything requires work, consistency, sometimes a financial investment, and of course, prayer and moving in accordance to God’s will. What you’re about to read is no different; and as with any business, starting can be the hardest part. So grateful for Kathleen for being willing to share her journey.

Kathleen’s Facebook

In a nutshell: Kathleen shares, “I make 1-2 minute product review videos from my cell phone of items I have around my house (even if I didn't purchase them from Amazon directly) and upload them to Amazon. Amazon then places them on product pages and I earn a commission when my video is watched and qualifying purchase is made.

This might not be for everyone, but you can make $1000+ every month, after you get going, with 5-10 hours of work per month. This is really more to take the financial edge off for your family or to make more impact in the world.

I started in Aug 2023 and am now making about $2k/mth with fewer than 10 hrs/month doing video reviews. My reviews from prior months are still up on Amazon generating commissions for me each month.”

Step by Step Breakdown

Step 1 - Join the Amazon Influencer Program. This is the hardest step so lots of info coming your way: It does require you to link a social media account (IG, FB, YouTube, etc) and Amazon doesn’t share info regarding the number of followers/engagement required to be approved. How did Kathleen do it? She created a brand new FB page and applied with 0 followers. BUT she took a $97 Mastermind course to help her grown this FB page to its current 3k followers using cheap Meta Ads. Her approach is a good one for someone not interest in becoming an “influencer” in the traditional sense of the word. She wasn’t inviting her friends and family to join her new FB page, for example. Kathleen has shared some people have to apply to the Amazon Influencer Program more than once before getting approved.

Step 2: Once qualified by Amazon, submit three 1-2 min video product reviews for Amazon to assess and approve.

Step 3: Post your video reviews on the social media page linked to the Amazon Influencer Program account. Kathleen shared she has gone weeks without posting and hasn’t seen this negatively impact her standing with Amazon, but things could change with Amazon’s requirements at any time.

Step 4: Earn a commission when someone watches your reviews and makes a qualified purchase.

Next Steps

Connect with Kathleen! She’s wonderful AND available. The best way to do so is by joining her FB Group Abundance In the Making. Note: She did recently re-brand the group as being for Mid-Life/Gen Xers BUT please don’t let that keep you from joining 🙂

Take Kathleen’s $97 course* and get one-on-one help from her. The number focus of the course is navigating that first and most difficult step: getting into the Amazon Influencer Program. If you don’t have an engaged social media following of 2.5K +, the course has a module on how to make this happen from 0 using cheap Meta ads, the same way Kathleen grew her page. This course is Kathleen’s version of the one she first took when starting back in Aug 2023.

You can sign up for her course here*.

“Please pray for my husband’s health and our family. Feel free to share this on your email. We need prayer. He’s going through so many health issues and it’s affecting his work, our finances, and our family life. He’s a man of God, for which I’m forever grateful! Idk how we’d do this without Jesus!”
