👩 Ghosted by a Mom Friend: A Grace Filled Response

❤️ A Wonderful Piece from ChristianMomBlog.com

We’ve all been there. You text a friend, hoping to catch up or make plans, and… nothing. Days turn into weeks, and you start to wonder what went wrong. Did you say something to upset them? Are they too busy? Or have they simply moved on? Being ghosted by a mom friend can sting, especially when you’ve shared so much together. But as Christian moms, we’re called to respond with grace, even when it’s hard.

Understanding the Why

First, it’s important to remember that everyone’s dealing with their own struggles. Sometimes, a friend might pull away because they’re overwhelmed with life—whether it’s a tough season of parenting, work stress, or personal challenges. Proverbs 19:11 tells us, “A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.” Instead of jumping to conclusions or harboring hurt, try to be patient and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Reaching Out with Love

If you feel comfortable, consider reaching out to your friend again, not with frustration but with love. A simple, “I’ve been thinking about you and hope everything’s okay,” can go a long way. Let them know you’re there for them, without pressuring them to respond. This act of kindness reflects the love of Christ, who always seeks to restore relationships. Ephesians 4:32 encourages us to “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Guarding Your Heart

While it’s important to extend grace, it’s also okay to protect your heart. If this isn’t the first time a friend has ghosted you, or if it’s become a pattern, it might be time to step back. Ask God for wisdom in how to handle the situation. Proverbs 4:23 advises, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” You can forgive and let go without continuing to invest in a relationship that consistently causes you pain.

Trusting God’s Plan

Sometimes, friendships fade, and that’s okay. It can be painful, but God often uses these moments to bring new people into our lives who will walk alongside us in this season of motherhood. Trust that He knows what’s best for you and your family. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Lean on Him as you navigate the ups and downs of friendships.

Extending Grace to Yourself

Lastly, don’t forget to offer grace to yourself. It’s easy to take it personally when a friend pulls away, but it’s not always about you. Motherhood is tough, and we all have moments when we can’t be as present as we’d like to be. Be kind to yourself, just as you would be to a friend, and remember that God’s love for you is unwavering, no matter what.

Useful Stuff From the Internet: Elections 2024 Edition 🇺🇸

Book recommendation alert: Vote for God. This is a perfect guide and resource for the disengaged Christian voter who may say, “I hate politics” and feels lost in the current political chaos. At its core, this book is Biblical and not political and will give you the hard truths of why it’s so incredibly important for the Church to engage in the civic duty of voting with Godly values at the forefront.

Did you know that 1 in every 3 Christian doesn’t vote? But what can we do as busy moms? My Faith Votes has an initiative called Write Now that may just be simple enough to fit in the business of this season. It involves you sending a letter to a disengaged Christian voter encouraging them to vote. The letter is pre-written, you download, print, add a personalized note, and mail it (so there is some cost involved). This strategy has shown to lift voter turnout by 57%.

Want to see your ballot ahead of time and know which candidates lean more towards Biblical values? The iVoter Guide has a simple tool that allows your to enter your address and get an instant Voter Guide.

For the homeschooling mama: the wonderful Jodi Mockabee has published a 4-week Election Study you can purchase and download for $7. It’s suitable for ages 8-16. What to expect: lessons on US government, history and the presidential election process using Sonlight’s Election Guide. It also includes prompts for Co op/group discussions.

For the mom to teens: a 7 minute video to help you learn strategies on how to talk to your teen about politics from a Biblical perspective.

NCM Note: Life has been CRAZY lately with an upcoming move, house hunting, and some health issues with my husband (plus the standard business of being a toddler mom and in the 3rd trimester). I hope to go back to publishing NCM on a weekly basis, but for now the publication will be limited to 1-2 per month. As always, please hit reply whenever you want to chat! We all need the connection ❤️

P.S.

If you’re looking to donate or volunteer for Hurricane Helene/Milton victims, I recommend Operation Blessing. A ministry and humanitarian non-profit I used to work for before becoming a SAHM and that’s doing amazing work on the ground in NC and GA.
