🌈A Promise from God: Fruitfulness & Prosperity

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.

Psalm 1: 1-3 (NIV)

😠 On Overcoming Mom Anger

❤️ A Great, Easy To Follow, and Social Media Free Resource You Can Access TODAY.

Parenting is not for the faint of heart. YET, it’s amazingly beautiful, full of deep moments of joy and gift from God. Created and ordained by Him. Still, and as with anything great, we need help! Specially if we find ourselves falling into episodes of anger and rage that we’ll later regret.

If this resonates, here is a great resource from Oliva Wilcox (@thenotsoangrymom), mom of 3 and pastor’s wife. Her insta is dedicated to sharing tips on overcoming mom anger. She has a reel titled, “I’m a better mama when…”, which is a great snap shot of her very vulnerable content.

The Freebie

In the name of disconnecting from social media more (which is a good tool to be a less angry mom by the way!) she also has a free “Three Steps to Overcoming Mom-Anger” resource that goes out to your inbox.

Who Is This For?

“This free resource was created for the loving mama who doesn't want her temper to define her motherhood any longer. This mama loves her children so much it hurts, but her struggle with mom-anger hurts even more. Feeling burnt out and overwhelmed, she isn't sure where to start.”

The Practicals

  • Three emails sent to your inbox (plus an intro email)

  • Dedicate 10 minutes a day, for 6 days, to focus on the micro steps presented

  • You’ll need a printer (but I’m sure there’s ways around this if needed), a Bible, and notebook or somewhere to write.

Perfect (and easy) Fall Transition Recipe

🍗 đŸ‹ Chicken Piccata

If you’ve never tried this classic Italian dish, you’re missing out! It’s simple, a nice break from the tomato heavy Italian recipes, and pretty affordable too!

Best part: you can eye ball all the ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken cutlets or breasts, boneless, skinless, butterflied to create thinner pieces (boneless, skinless, chicken tights work too!)

  • ½ teaspoon pepper and 1 ž teaspoons salt

  • 1 cup flour

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

  • 1 shallot, finely chopped (sub with sweet onion if needed, or omit it)

  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (from 4-6 cloves, or use powdered garlic if that’s on hand)

  • 1 ½ cups chicken stock (or water)

  • Zest from 1 lemon (don’t skip this step!)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained (most supermarkets keep these next to the pickles)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

Season & Coat: Season the chicken with salt and pepper, then coat each piece in in the flour (if desired, season the flour with Italian spices to add extra flavor).

Cook The Chicken: Heat 3 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons oil in a large skillet set over medium-high until the butter has melted. Add half of the chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through (2-3 minutes per side). Repeat with the remaining chicken, adding more butter and oil to the skillet as needed. Transfer the chicken to a platter.

Make the Sauce: Add the shallot to the pan and cook (about 2 minutes). Add the garlic and cook (about 1 minute). Stir in the stock and simmer until the liquid is reduced by half (4-5 minutes). Reduce heat to low, then stir in 4 tablespoons of the butter, capers, lemon zest, lemon juice and salt. Note: use corn starch to thicken if the sauce ends up too runny.

Final Steps: Pour the sauce over the chicken and garnish with parsley. Serve with pasta, roasted potatoes, couscous, or even rice.

Pro Tip: when making the sauce, double the ingredients. Then freeze half the sauce to have on hand for a future, even easier to cook, dinner.

📱 Mamas to Teens with Instagram Accounts

🚧 Meta Just Rolled out New Teens Settings You Should be Aware Of

about.fb.com

The new settings, rolled out last week, apply to all teens 18 and under. Teens under 16 will need parental permission to change any of these default settings

What’s included:

  • All accounts will be defaulted to private

  • Stricter messaging settings, so they can only message those they follow

  • Stricter control over the images/videos they’re fed (“such as content that shows people fighting or promotes cosmetic procedures”).

  • Stricter tagging settings, so they can only be tagged or mentioned by those they follow

  • Auto notification to close the app when it has been in use for 60 minutes in a 24 hour period

  • Auto sleep mode to be on between 10pm-7am (this will mute all their notifications during this time).

Still, if your teen has an Instagram account, don’t let these new settings put you at ease. Although they’re good, if a teens wants to get around these settings, they’ll find a way. Also, none of these settings address the threat of online bullying from other teens they know in real life (the most common threat teens face on these apps).

Useful & Inspiring Stuff From the Internet

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Be reminded that we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses (Hebrews 4:15, paraphrased) and that because the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour, the family of believers around the world are undergoing similar sufferings (1 Peter 5: 7-9, paraphrased). You’re not alone. If you’re experiencing thoughts of suicide, call someone and share it TODAY (You can even reply to this email and I can point you in the right direction. -Andrea)

Do you have a piece of wood furniture with a white stain? Try this trick: place a very damp towel/rag over the stain, then place a hot iron over it for a few minutes and you’re all set! The stain will disappear. See in action via @ponlabonita (note, it’s in Spanish).

Let’s talk passports: it’s never a bad idea to have one…it’s a time and financial investment for sure! But worth having to always be ready for an opportunity to fly out of country. And if you’re already a passport holder, it’s now possible to renew it online, a huge time saver. This new option is only available for adult passport holders (children and first time passport holders still need to use the snail mail method).
